Volcano & Rainforest - 15 Days
Day 1: Arrival at Juan Santa Maria International Airport. Meeting and assistance at the airport and transfer to your hotel in San Jose. Overnight in San Jose.
Day 2: Early departure by land and boat to Tortuguero National Park through Braulio Carrillo National Park. All meals (B,L,D), visit to banana plantation & canal tour are included. Overnight Lodge in Tortuguero.
Day 3: Spend this day at Tortuguero. Visits to Tortuguero town, Turtle Museum, Morning Canal Tour, Hiking tours and all meals (D,L,D) are included. Overnight Lodge in Tortuguero.
Day 4: Lodge breakfast and early departure (6:00 am) to Tortuguero Airport to take two locals flight to Drake Bay. Arrival to Drake Bay at 10:20 am. Here a personal from one Lodge located in Corcovado will pick up you to take you (by land and boat) to their hotel located around Corcovado National Park. Lunch and dinner included. Overnight Lodge in Corcovado.
Day 5: Lodge breakfast. In the morning hiking tour in Corcovado National Park with bilingual guide and entrance fees included. Rest of the day free to enjoy the hotel and area facilities. Lunch and dinner are included. Overnight Lodge in Corcovado.
Day 6: Lodge breakfast. In the morning Boat ride & Hiking tour in Caño Island. Bilingual guide and entrance fees are included. Rest of the day free to enjoy the hotel and area facilities. Lunch and dinner are included. Overnight Lodge in Corcovado.
Day 7: Lodge breakfast and departure at 9:15 am (by land, boat and air) to Drake Bay Airport to take your local flight to San José. In San José a private transportation will take you to Sarapiqui, where we will check in at the hotel Selva Verde or similar. Afternoon at leisure and overnight in Sarapiqui.
Day 8: Breakfasts and early morning bird watching tour and guided hike through the rainforest trails surrounding the Hotel. The rainforests of Sarapiqui are some of the richest habitats for flora and fauna of the tropics. Return to the hotel. Afternoon at leisure. Relax in the pool or enjoy another activity. Overnight in Sarapiqui.
Day 9: Breakfasts. Sarapiqui Boat Tour. Glide down the Sarapiquí River in search of caiman, howler monkeys, iguanas, birds, and other tropical wildlife. Enjoy the covered boats with quiet electric motors and drivers who are expert animal spotters. After, we will move to La Fortuna de San Carlos , home of the amazing Arenal Volcano. Overnight in Arenal.
Day 10: Hotel breakfast and departure to visit Venado Caves , ( If you do not mind getting wet and muddy, this fascinating underground adventure will take you through a labyrinth of narrow passages. Bats, stalactites and stalagmites will surely astonish the true explorer). Then, in the afternoon entrance fees to the natural hot spring water of Tabacón Spa with buffet dinner. Have a great relax time !! Overnight Hotel in Arenal.
Day 11: Breakfasts and departure to Rincon de la Vieja National Park and Volcano, located about 3 hours from Arenal. On the way, scenic views of the lake will please our eyes. Afternoon arrival and check in at the hotel. Afternoon at leisure for optional tours or activities or relax in the hotel. Overnight in Rincon de la Vieja .
Day 12: Breakfasts. Today is a day of Pure Adventure !!! First we will visit the A 25 meter high waterfall with emerald-green water. A forest covered canyon surrounds it. It is 3 Km, from the hotel. You can get here either by horseback riding, hiking, or by car and then taking a short walk. After that, we will visit Las Chorreras Waterfall: A double waterfall that joins the Blanco River and together they form a natural blue pool. An excellent place to enjoy a dip in the water or just to admire the beauty of the scenery. It is at 1 km from the hotel. From here, we will move and visit Volcanic mud pool and thermal water: It is located at 3 km. from the hotel. It is surrounded by forest and hugged by the Colorado River. Heat surfaces through a crack in the deep geological formations, and boiling mud pools are formed, which emanate a vapor with a smell of sulfur. The water and the volcanic mud have healing properties. Return to the hotel. Overnight in Rincon de la Vieja.
Day 13: Breakfasts. Today either relax by the pool or enjoy the fantastic Horseback riding tour. Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin is famous for its horseback riding tours. A huge ranch allows us to use scenic trails instead of taking you on paved roads. You can see a lot of things during a normal trip. We have trips that last from one hour with really easy going horses, for the beginners, to big trips all day long for the more adventurers. Some people even come here to enjoy three consecutive days of horseback riding, visiting different places of the hacienda. And they come back!!! Overnight in Rincon de la Vieja.
Day 14: Breakfasts. During the day, transfer back to San Jose. Arrival and overnight in San Jose Day 15: Breakfasts and departure back to the Juan Santa Maria International Airport.
